Have you ever wondered...

 

Evan and Emma have amazing eyelashes.  I would be lying if I said I have never wondered what Evan would look like with mascara.   But I was pretty sure James would not appreciate me satisfying my curiosity.  Well the other day as I was changing Emma and things were particularly quiet in the house.  As every parent knows that is a sure sign that something is going on.  This is what I found.

It is amazing what the little ones pick up by just watching.  Not bad for a two year old.  And as I suspected just gorgeous. 

Just peachy

 

In my opinion there is little better than a perfectly ripe, sweet and juicy peach.  Surely there will be peaches in heaven because to me a good peach is divine.

When I was a young girl my family took a trip to southwestern Colorado.  Ever since then I have been searching for peaches like we found that summer.  I was sure they could only be found in Colorado.  Since I have not lived in Colorado for many, many years these peaches have only existed in my memories.  They were perfect.  The size of baseballs, these peaches emitted the sweetest aroma.  They were the perfect firmness and were delectably sweet and juicy.

Recently, to my delight I was drawn to a roadside produce stand where I found what looked to be peaches like I remembered.  I was hesitant.  I have had many peaches since that trip that have just not measured up.  But I could not resist the possibility of reliving that memory.  So I purchased twenty.  Not fully ripe my anticipation grew as I awaited the firm flesh to soften.  The day arrived and these South Carolina peaches met my every expectation.  A little bite of heaven.

Discovering the treasures in our backyard

I have lived in Douglasville for four years.  Right around the corner from us is the Sweetwater Creek state park.  In all of the time I lived here yesterday was the second time I have visited the park.  It was a lot of fun.

Evan is a born hiker.  He loved every minute of it.  He was six steps ahead of us and showing us the way.

 

 

Obviously it wasn't much of a hike since we could take the stroller.

At the end of one of the trails there are the ruins of a civil was era textile mill.  I didn't think that I would get too excited about seeing this but once we got down there it was really, really cool.
